Tippecanoe County-Extension and Community Gardens 2015

August 2015: My first stop at the gardens this year. From the road they appeared about the same as last year so I didn't stop, but wondered how they were doing with all the rain we've gotten this summer. When I finally stopped by, I was surprised to see the Master Gardeners had been doing a lot of work. The gardens seem to have flourished through all the rain. The Master Gardeners have been landscaping and have incorporated many new exhibit ideas, e.g., Hummingbird Haven, the Medicinal Plant Garden (which I don't remember from last year), and the Kitchen Garden. I was fortunate enough to speak with a Master Gardener who was working while I was there (she showed me what purslane looked like). This dedicated and knowledgeable group has some energetic plans for new exhibits, so stay tuned and be sure to go see the gardens!

These photos were taken on a variety of occasions at different seasons and different times of day. They were taken either with my iphone 5 camera or my Panasonic DMC camera. After I finished working with them in post-processing, they now appear more as paintings or drawings when viewed at larger sizes (which I like to make available to give folks the feeling of really being there amid all the textures, colors, and details of a community garden). For more of an idea of how to turn casual photos into "photo art" see my blog articles at http://www.secondlooks.blogspot.com.
